Tell ’em ’bout the Blues
Great stories of American Blues & Roots artists based in Michigan, as documented and told by author, musician, manager, writer, researcher, publisher and Michigan native Fred Reif, as he traveled the world and collaborated with the amazing musicians who put their stamp on the music culture we know today.Â
It all started with a trip to Pontiac, Michigan in the Spring of 1970, where Fred discovered Otis Hicks, a.k.a. Lightnin’ Slim. Over the years he has promoted, encouraged, befriended, and supported many blues artists: Lazy Lester, Arthur Gunter, Eddie Burns, Dr. Isaiah Ross, Bobo Jenkins, Baby Boy Warren, Little Daddy Walton, ‘Rabbit’ Johnson, Joe L. Carter, Boogie Woogie Red, Washboard Willie, Chicago Pete, Willie D. Warren, Johnny ‘Yard Dog’ Jones, ‘Uncle’ Jessie White, legendary songwriter Sir Mack Rice, and many, many others. Lots of b&w photos throughout. 237 pp.
