S.S. Stewart Special Thoroughbred Open Back Banjo (c.1890)
This circa 1890 S.S. Stewart Special Thoroughbred openback banjo is a fine example of its model. It features a cherry neck with a carved heel and a metal-clad maple rim, fancy peghead inlays, and Stewart “Common Sense” tailpiece complete with the original flower detail. Included with this banjo is a recent Superior hardshell case with green lining. This instrument is on consignment.
